Where Science Meets Fitness

No matter what your current fitness level or former athletic experience, you can learn to train like an Olympic-caliber athlete. I am Erin Borchard, a former elite springboard/platform diver (NCAA Champion and multi-year All-American at Stanford University, former member of the US National Diving Team, and two-time competitor at the US Olympic Team Trials), specializing in personal and small group training sessions. I am also a Phi Beta Kappa student with a B.A. in Human Biology; my strong science background is an ever present influence shaping and changing my training philosophy.

I want to help you push yourself to YOUR maximum...you'll be shocked to find the true athlete living inside of you.

My First Visit to Fight Gone Mad

Wow, wow, wow...what a facility!  My bosses at CROSSFIT S3, Brandon Cullen and Kirk Dewaele, opened their second Charlotte CrossFit box, called "Fight Gone Mad," earlier this year.  Today was my first visit to the facility, and I got one heck of a taste of what it's all about!  The concept behind this box is that each daily workout is inspired by the benchmark CrossFit workout, "Fight Gone Bad."  This place is different from the CrossFit I know...very little Olympic lifting, different equipment (i.e. Ski Erg machines, punching bags and boxing gloves, etc.), and "out-of-the-box" unique exercises.  See FGM's website for further details: http://fightgonemad.com/.  This is definitely worth trying out at least once (first class is free!).

Below is the workout I completed today (29 min. total):
5 Rounds -
*1 min. x Double Kettlebell Deadlift (1.5 pood KB in ea. hand)
*1 min. x Ski Erg
*1 min. x Row
*1 min. x 8 Ring Row reps, followed by Ring Row Pull Hold for the remainder of the minute
*1 min. x Landmines (Standing Barbell Twist w/ barbell in a pivot...see video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkisDkzbr7M&feature=related (though we did this in a more upright stance and with more explosive speed)
*1 min. REST
